This ’57 Bel Air has been part of our family longer than any of us have. My grandfather bought it brand new from a dealership in Toronto while working for General Motors.
He brought it with him when he moved to New Zealand in the ’60s, and it became the family car for decades—school drop-offs, beach holidays, and even towing a caravan down to the Mount in the summer. Somewhere along the way it skipped the rust bug and somehow stayed in good shape.
We’ve kept it mostly original, just added seatbelts and kept up with the usual maintenance.
